Cookie Policy
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on this site, and how you can accept, decline or remove them.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site remember something between page loads - for example, that you already dismissed a consent notice - and it allows analytics and advertising systems to recognise a device.
How consent works on this site
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. Your choice is stored in your own browser, not on our server. If you decline, analytics and advertising measurement are not activated. You can change your mind at any time by clearing the site data in your browser; the banner will appear again on your next visit.
Categories we use
- Essential (always active). Needed for the site to function and to remember your consent choice. These store no personal profile.
- Analytics. Google Analytics 4 measures page views, traffic sources, approximate location and device type so that we can see which articles are useful. Loaded only after consent.
- Advertising and measurement. Where advertising measurement is enabled, Google may set identifiers to measure campaign performance and limit repeated advertising. Loaded only after consent.
Cookies you may see
- _ga and _ga_G-0LY0HY7L01 - Google Analytics, used to distinguish visitors and sessions.
- _gid - Google Analytics, short-lived visitor identifier.
- _gcl_au - Google Ads, conversion measurement where advertising is enabled.
- ni-cookie-consent - set by this site in your browser’s local storage to remember your consent choice.
Managing cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies from its privacy or security settings. Blocking essential storage may make parts of the site behave unexpectedly. To opt out of Google Analytics measurement across websites, Google publishes a browser add-on for that purpose, and Google Ads settings let you control personalised advertising.
Do Not Track
Browsers send different signals and there is no common standard for interpreting them. We rely on the consent banner and on browser cookie controls rather than on Do Not Track.
