The executive is the law implementing body of a state. It is also known as the government of the Council of Ministers. It makes programs, policies and implements the law formulated by the legislature. In a broad sense, the executive means the supreme administrator of the country.

Political System is based on separation of power, authority is supplied to different government bodies like Legislative, Executive, Judicial. The distributed system saves the usage of power from a single group of people. These three organs of government possess powers and control each other so that no organ can become too powerful. It is called Check and Balance System

Functions of Executive

Beauty is increasing day by day in this modern age. There is a lot of work that the executive has to perform. The duty of the executive to maintain law and order in the country. It has to fulfill the basic needs of people like food, shelter, clothing, education, and health services. The following are the major functions of the executive.

1. Administrative Functions

The main function of education is to maintain law and order in the country. The executive has to implement the laws formulated by the Legislature. It gives various directions and does supervision in implementing laws. It makes proper organization and Administrative structure of the Government and established coordination among the various departments.

The executive appoints the head of different constitutional organs such as chairman of public service commission, Attorney General, chief election commissioner, etc. It also appoints the chief of various corporations which are under the ownership of the government like telecom companies, mining companies, oil corporations, etc. In the process of implementing the law, it can make different announcements give orders and directions.

2. Diplomatic function

It is one of the important works of the Executive which is concerned with diplomatic relations and cooperation. Under this department functions, there is with vitamins the foreign policy, extends the relationship between the other countries and make treaties and agreements. The ambassadors of foreign countries and make the appointment in the diplomatic post.

3. Financial function

The financial mobilization and management of the country are carried out by the executive. Every year, the finance minister introduces the annual budget in the federal parliament. The educated imposed tax and collect it, mobilize the revenue and take the loan, etc. With the mobilization of finance, the other activities can be run. Does financial mobilization and management is an important function of the executive.

4. Military function

The constitution of different countries has made a provision of national security council under the chairmanship of prime minister for making a recommendation to the Government of country. Councils of minister for the formulation of a policy on overall Nation interest, security, and defense and to mobilize the Army of the country.

The executive has to save the country from foreign attacks. It also executes the function of declaring war and proposing peace. The chairman of the Security Council is Prime Minister. Similarly, the president appoints and dismisses the Chief of the Army on the Recommendation of the cabinet. 

Besides this, the executive exercises some legislative and Judiciary powers. Most bills are prepared by the government and are tabled in the Parliament for discussion. The educative summons for adjourns the house. The executive can make an ordinance when the parliament is not in session. The ordinance also can work as law. Similarly, the chief executive appointed the chief justice and other judges in the judiciary. It is it also can reduce the punishment given by the judiciary
